About this work

Description

A constructed Series, relating to the administrative and management functions of The Wellcome Foundation Ltd. The Series includes three ledgers relating to the Kepler Malt Extract Company Ltd. Also, material on trade with the Indian Government, and the plant Strophanthus.

A sequence of files headed "Trustee Matters" provides a comprehensive overview of the financial aspects of various matters and projects in medias res at the time of Sir Henry Wellcome's death (e.g. Metlakahtla), and a ledger records payments relating to a trust fund for his son, Henry Mounteney Wellcome.

Core administrative papers are represented by The Wellcome Foundation's Articles of Association (1924) and Minutes to the Management Committee, as well as further Minutes to overseas companies in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and Germany. Various files on trademarks reveal the assiduity with which the legal ownership of names was monitored and pursued.
