About this work

Description

Fourteen letters to Richard Bellings-Arundell from various correspondents in his extended family, concerning both medical and general family matters.

The majority of the letters are from his cousin, Margaret Jernegan, wife of John Jernegan, later Sir John. There are also letters from her brothers-in-law Henry and Charles Jernegan. The latter is a doctor who has been treating both Arundell and his daughter. The final correspondent is Arundell's second cousin Lady Elizabeth Roper, daughter of the fifth Lord Teynham, who hopes to marry Dr. Charles Jernegan. The couple both write to Richard Bellings-Arundell hoping for his blessing. They later married, so this was apparently forthcoming.
