Description

Records relating to the work of Wellcome Chemical Research Laboratories, established by Henry Wellcome in 1896 at 6 King Street, London, EC1, with F B Power as Director.

From 1913, affiliated to the Wellcome Bureau of Scientific Research. From 1924, part of Wellcome Foundation Ltd. In 1932, moved to the Wellcome Research Institution, Euston Road. In the 1940s, the name Wellcome Chemical Research Laboratories was taken over by a chemistry laboratory at Beckenham Kent, which in 1946 combined with the Wellcome Physiological Research Laboratories to form the Wellcome Research Laboratories.

The present series is an artificial construction, with the exception of the staffing files of Dr T A Henry (Director).
