About this work

Description

Typed letter-report (31 January, 1902), from Burroughs Wellcome & Co (Snow Hill) to Henry Wellcome, at the Grand Hotel, Tamaris, Toulon, France.

The letter refers to conditions of service, in general terms, in respect of John Mellanby, Dr Shaw and Dr Dowson. Also, commentary on progress with "Diphtheria Antitoxic Serum". The final page of the letter is annotated in Henry Wellcome's hand, advising that he does not need to see the text of publications from his research laboratories unless questions of policy are involved.

Enclosed with the letter is a report of Chune Fletcher's views "on the subject of Mr Wellcome's correspondence with Dr Dowson" and conditions of service generally in respect of Mellanby, Shaw and Dowson. Certain passages underlined and marked.
