About this work

Description

From Burroughs, in Turin, a letter (19 December, 1892) , to A[lbert] Searl [Works Manager] at his home address in Dartford: "BW&Co please pay 1000£ to Dartford Hospital Fund." The donation is to start a fund for the building of "the proposed hospital" - i.e. Livingstone Hospital, East Hill, Dartford. Burroughs notes that "Mr Stanley" - who would lay the foundation stone, in 1894 - "knows nothing of this."

The file also contains a receipt, dated 6 January, 1893, for £1,000, "being donation to Hospital Fund (a/c SMB)".
