Description

Sales-oriented, general business correspondence, including business report-letters to Henry Wellcome and to Burroughs Wellcome & Co, sent from various parts of the world as Burroughs travelled and established new business markets, with much detail on business agents, orders, marketing strategies and product-presentation.

Material concerning John Wyeth and Brother, the Kepler Malt Extract Company, Phoenix Mills (Dartford), Burroughs's political interests, and the Burroughs and Wellcome partnership, including the decline of their personal relationship and the litigation that ensued.

Burrough's graduation essay ("The compression of medicinal powders"), various large-sized certificates, and personal material relating particularly to the latter years of Burroughs life, and to his sudden death in Monte Carlo in 1895, including his Last Will and Testament, obituaries and reminiscences.

Also, two letter books of S M Burroughs & Co outgoing correspondence (1878-9), which are available on microfilm.
