The series of cards in WA/HMM/IC/3/P were probably compiled by Barbara Pycraft (later Duncum) and Alec Haggis. In a memoir written at the request of John Symonds, Duncum recollects how in about 1934, she accompanied Haggis on a tour of East Anglian and Devonian churches, listing and photographing statues, carvings and other images of saints with medical connections. In 1936, she was asked to set up a journal abstracting service on subjects of interest to the WHMM.
