About this work
Description
Daniel Pender Davidson (1928-1933) compiled most of the early iconographic index cards, handwritten and typed. The index cards were not continued by his successor Claude Alfred Earnshaw (1935-1957), but were subsequently continued by Dr Renate Ruth Adelheid Burgess (1964-1980). In addition, there are sequences and/or additions by others, such as Alec Haggis and Ann Heller. Some sequences are mixed, and contain cards by different authors and from different periods; it is not always known who compiled the cards. Some sequences are also incomplete.
Some of the card sequences are based on location, such as G.G. [Gloucester Gate], Henry Wellcome's residence, or "Picture corridor, front basement", which refers to the Historical Medical Museum (1913-1930) at Wigmore Street.
