This section includes minutes of the various sub-committees appointed by the Executive Committee to deal with specialist areas as need arose. Items within the terms of reference of a specialist sub-committee were reserved for that Committee unless too urgent to wait for its next meeting when they could be referred to the next major sub-committee meeting. All sub-committees were also required to report to the next meeting of the Executive Committee. Thus, although the minutes of such committees, which are listed in this section, represent an incomplete and variable survival, the work of the Association in their specialist areas can be pieced together from other records in the collection. They have been arranged by date of foundation of the particular Committee, as far as this can be established, although in many cases the surviving records commence later. Bodies which underwent changes in name, but were administratively continuous, have been treated as one committee.
