Description
Correspondence and other material relating to the organisation and operational administration of the first ISMs, and the difficulties regarding travel and accomodation. The early records (e.g. 1957 and 1959 meetings) are annotated with co-founder and first archivist John Pemberton's notes regarding the political/administrative context of the place and time where the meeting was being held.
Correspondence includes letters to the Government/Ministry of Health in China and the USSR asking to support the forthcoming ISM.
