Correspondence

This section is arranged thematically. Maureen Young filed most of her correspondence by the first letter of the person's surname, and sometimes the first letter of an organisation's name or the main subject discussed in the content of the letter. At times letters from organisations are filed by the surname of the letter writer rather than the organisation's name.

Correspondence relating to specific grant applications tended to be kept in separate files, which have been retained. However, correspondence with organisations concerning grants may also occur in the main alphabeticised series and be filed either by the organisation's name or the surname of the named letter writer.

Professor Young also produced and received correspondence relating to her publications and the manuscripts on which she assisted. These are filed with the relevant manuscripts by title in Section B of the catalogue (PP/MYG/B).
