Various items, as follows:

5 June, 1880. Copy letter (wet process) addressed to Burroughs (author's signature very faint). Refers to the Nubian Blacking Company, agreeing to the terms of Burroughs's letter of 14 May: "I am to receive forty (40) per cent of your nett profits in the business of S M Burroughs & Co for my services, & you are to receive forty (40) per cent of my profits in Nubian Blacking in Great Britain."

11 February, 1895. Copy letter, Wellcome to H Helbing. Wellcome regrets that "pressing business engagements," prevent him from attending a meeting at Canon Street Hotel to decide upon a memorial for Burroughs, and confirms his contribution of "one hundred guineas" to the fund.

[1895]. Typed "Extract from letter dictated to the Editor of the 'Christian Commonwealth'" (author not indicated but appears to be Henry Wellcome). For the published article deriving from this text, see WF/E/02/02/19.

[1895]. Manuscript note ("Extracted from 'Schedule of Papers...referring to monetary transactions of Mr Burroughs...'") listing "Prom Notes" and "IOUs". Amounts, but not names, are listed.

23 March, 1895. Clipping from The Chemist and Druggist" on a "smoker" evening, at Masons' Hall Tavern, of The Kepler Musical Society ("one of the many social off-shoots of the firm of Burroughs Wellcome & Co"), Robert Sudlow in the Chair. Amongst the entertainment noted is "the boisterous choruses of the jovial 'tabloids'." During the evening, Sudlow "made a sympathetic reference to the memory of the late Mr S M Burroughs."

[c.1900]. "Memo as to naturalisation of Mr Burroughs" based on "information obtained from Index to Partliamentary Papers 1890/99". Typescript note, author not indicated.
