Description

A series of letters from Dr Maitland Radford to Muriel Lloyd, later to Dr Muriel Radford. Covers the early years of their courtship, Maitland's year abroad in the R.A.M.C., their engagement, and the birth of their child Ann Radford (later Ann MacEwen). Includes discussion of their medical careers, including taking the D.P.H. and interest in Public Health, living through World War I, and their early interest in socialist movements. Also contains mention of some of Maitland's literary friends and family, as well as various medical friends and colleagues.

These letters were organised into 'packets' labelled 1-9 by Ann MacEwen (1918-2008). Most packets had dates and some basic description of the content. They have been kept in this series and arranged along these lines.
