Biographical note

The Salford School of Physiotherapy's first contact with the Chartered Society of Massage and Medical Gymnastics was as the Department of Electro-Therapy and Light-Therapy at the Salford Royal Hospital in January 1936. The Department, which initially took on students who worked alongside the qualified practitioners, became the Salford School of Physiotherapy located at Salford Hope Hospital. The School transferred to the Salford College of Technology in the 1980s.
