Biographical note

Doctors for a Woman's Choice on Abortion was set up in 1976. It consisted of a group of doctors from most branches of medicine working to give women a real choice about whether or not to have a legal abortion when they need one. Its primary aim is to provide a forum for discussion between members, the medical profession and the public on the issue of a woman's choice on abortion. It acts as a pressure group which monitors and lobbys for change in the law relating to legal abortion. DWCA feeds into organisations such as Pro-Choice Alliance and Co-Ord by sending a representative to these meetings. It lobbies MPs if there are any attacks on the 1967 Abortion Act. Savage acted as Press Officer for England from 1978 to at least 1990.
