About this work

Description

This was a research project commissioned by the Department of Health and Social Security, and undertaken on behalf of the Tavistock Institute by Adrrian Bain and Michael Foster. The project was primarily an investigation of the relationships between social security officers and claimants to assess levels of stress and satisfaction on both sides of the service. Research was undertaken through group and individual interviews of both staff at local DHSS offices and claimants, and through observations of working practices, including the interviewing of claimants.
