Biographical note

In Sep 1920 Council set up an Establishment General Purposes Committee to deal with all matters connected with the management of the Society’s property, library, publicity and staff.

Between Sep 1940 and Oct 1945 its work was taken over by the Emergency General Purposes Committee, which also took on the functions of most other committees.

In 1943 the Establishment and General Purposes Committee resumed, until Jan 1970, when its name was altered to the General Purposes Committee.

In Nov 1974 it merged with the Finance Committee.
