A lever arch file marked `to be kept' was found to contain correspondence on various subjects, now listed as H.6-7, and most of H.11-16. The rest of this sequence has been reconstructed from files which had been split and put aside as 'historical', or gathered together for the writing of various histories. The subjects are presented roughly chronologically, with the exception of H.34-H.36 which were received in a later accession, and which are linked by theme, being chiefly concerned with the work of midwives.
