Biographical note

Badminton was played in the 1890s by patients at Crichton Royal Institution, using the tennis lawn and a Badminton Club was later formed. From information in the Constitution of the Club, membership was open to Crichton Royal Hospital and Dumfries and Galloway Health Board employees and their direct relatives, and nominated affiliated members. The Crichton Royal Badminton Club ceased in 1990 when Easterbrook Hall was used to hold the fatal accident inquiry into the Lockerbie Air Disaster.
