About this work

Description

During these dates CJS Thompson was the person principally responsible for acquiring material for the Museum and these reports give detailed accounts of his activities in this area. They were typed with space for marginal comments/instructions from HSW, although not all the copies which remain are actually annotated by him. Written reports were only required when HSW was away from London and the chronological coverage is therefore only patchy. A numbering system for action points seems to have been in use in both the reports and in correspondence between Thompson and HSW, the number usually prefixed by a 'T' or 'CT'. Items RP/Tho/1-12 were separated from a sequence of 'early correspondence' [FC 9a]; items RP/Tho/13-15 were with the rest of the 'staff reports' [FC 11c]. Some additional reports were added to the files [by HJS?] in 1981.
