About this work

Description

In a letter to Crick (14 November, 1968), inviting him to become a member of the Cell Regulation Panel, Dr Pamela Williams (Secretary, Biological Sciences Committee, Science Research Council) noted:

"The Biological Sciences Committee of the S[cience] R[esearch] C[ouncil] designated several fields of special interest some time ago, which included the field of cell regulation with special reference to cell differentiation in higher organisms. A Panel was set up under the Chairmanship of Professor R Brown of Edinburgh University. It met twice and its conclusions are set out in the enclosed memorandum from Dr J Paul, of Glasgow."

Crick replied (15 November): "I am not sure that I am really qualified to do this, but I am certainly interested in the subject and would be prepared to do what I can to help."
