About this work

Description

The Research and Information Group (RIG) acted as a resource for Council, national committees and other groups or individual members seeking information or resources on maternity, childbirth and early parenthood. The group conducted national and local research projects based on requests from NCT HQ and committees, as well as on its own initiative. The group compiled and maintained a file of experts, identifying areas of research or interest and maintaining contacts with individuals and organisations in related fields. The group worked closely with the NCT's Librarian in the collection and dissemination of relevant information.

Papers relating to the work of the Research and Information Group (RIG) were in a state of disorder and poorly organised on arrival at the Wellcome Library; no attempt has been made to rearrange the papers. This set of records does not represent the whole of the work undertaken by RIG. As the work of the Research and Information Group crosses over with Library and Information Services and Policy Research, some papers relating to the work of RIG may also be found within these sections; this is particularly the case for resources (reports, papers, surveys, etc) collected by the NCT, which have been catalogued within the Library and Information Services section; and studies carried out by NCT, which can be found in Policy Research (SA/NCT/E/8).
