Biographical note

At the 41st World Health Assembly in May 1988, resolution WHA41.27 was adopted. This resolution formulated the need for greater use of epidemiological data and modern epidemiological training in developing health-for-all strategies relevant to the needs of developing countries in particular. The resolution also called for an urgent meeting of experts, organised by the WHO, to define and scope such a strategy. The records reflect this period (mid-late 1980s) of greater involvement and collaboration between the IEA and WHO.
