Description
Papers arising from Smithells' work in conjunction with the legal claims of thalidomide children and the Trust set up in 1973 "for the purpose of giving relief and assistance" to them.
Smithells carried out extensive consultancy work on behalf of the plaintiffs' case against Distillers Ltd (see PP/SML/C/1 and PP/SML/D/2/8/1). From 1974, he also served on the National Advisory Council of The Thalidomide Children's Trust, becoming a trustee in December 1976.
