About this work
Description
This series comprises photocopies of typed extracts. Original diaries remain with the family.
The extracts cover three phases of activity: 3 Sep 1939-26 Jun 1941 at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, Oxford; 3 Jul-15 Dec 1941 in the USA with Florey and then at Peoria; 16 Dec 1941-29 Jun 1942 in the USA at Merck Research Laboratories, New Jersey, USA.
The extracts were originally made by Heatley 'in the mid 1970s' according to an introductory note on C/1/4/1. The more detailed extracts are in C/1/4/1 and the earlier ones are C/1/4/2.
The original typed version of each extract was donated to the Wellcome Library in 2004 and has been added to the relevant files in this sub-series.

Acquisition note
This formed part of the batch of papers chosen by Heatley to be placed in an archive in the early 1980s and can therefore be said to have been material that he saw as particularly important.
