About this work

Description

Correspondence between G B S Roberts, Ruchill Hospital, Glasgow, and Penrose, consisting of 3 letters. The first letter from Roberts, dated 10 December 1956, encloses a list of mothers who delivered anencephalic infants in the previous year, containing the mother's name, religion (where known), position of birth in family, and maternal age at birth. Roberts' second letter, dated 27 March, encloses a similar list of 49 cases of anencephaly in Glasgow, for which Penrose offers thanks and enquires about ABO blood groups of mothers. Also includes data collected by Penrose on anencephalic births from cities, towns and regions of Scotland.
