About this work

Description

Originally set up by an amalgamation of the National Radium Commission's Pathology Advisory Committee, the Pathological Society's Consultative Panel and the Campaign. (Later appointed just by the Campaign and Pathological Society). First meeting Jan 1947. It had much the same function as the Campaign's Pathology Sub-Committee (see A.23/5), however, it extended its functions to cover the whole country. (It has not been possible to ascertain whether both the Panel and Sub-Committee operated concurrently from 1947). Pathologists would send tissue to the panel for expert advice, reports would be made and most cases were followed up, some for up to 2 years. There were no meetings of the Panel after 1965. It was decided to dissolve the Panel in 1970.
