Biographical note

NHSCA formed in 1976 in response to the privatisation of the NHS. It was primarily a campaigning organisation, with no negotiating status, and took particular interest in the employment conditions and career prospects of those wishing to devote themselves entirely to NHS work, of women in medicine and of doctors from ethnic minorities.

In 2005 it founded the campaign and pressure group Keep Our NHS Public with NHS Support Federation and Health Emergency.
