About this work

Description

Eric Miller worked on behalf of the Tavistock Institute Centre for Applied Social Research to implement an organisational development programme within the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) of Mexico. The aim was to define more precisely the units and sub-units of the electrical sector and to better co-ordinate the activities of CFE towards the achievement of its overall task. The project focused on the decentralisation of industry away from larger cities into new areas of the country, the definition of managerial roles and responsibilities, and the integration of other projects into the overall programme, including the rural electrification project. The research was primarily conducted through visits by Eric Miller to Mexico to observe management in the electrical sector, and his findings and reccommendations were in the majority reported through a series of working notes.
