Description

Product literature and promotional material produced by Burroughs Wellcome & Co, 1909-1910.

Including separate circulars, advertising material, price lists and supporting literature (such as therapeutic notes) on BW&Co products, for markets across the world, including the UK, Italy, Germany, USA, Canada, South Africa, France, Russia, India and the Philipines.

The Guardbook offers a good indication of the range of Burroughs Wellcome & Co products on offer at the time, such as 'Hazeline' Cream and 'Hazeline' Snow, 'Kepler' Solution, 'Borofax', 'Alaxa', 'Ernutin', 'Wellcome' Cascara Products, 'Wellcome' Brand Vaccines, 'Ernutin', 'Vana' Tonic Wine and Wellcome photographic materials.

Also included are products sold under the 'Tabloid' and 'Soloid' brands, such as 'Tabloid' Blaud Pill, 'Tabloid' Tea, 'Tabloid' Syrups of Iron, 'Tabloid' Opthalmic Products, 'Soloid' Products for Throat Medication, 'Tabloid' Brand Pastilles, 'Tabloid' Rytol Universal Developer, 'Tabloid' Pleated Compressed Sanitary Towels and 'Tabloid' Brand Preparations of Ergot'.

The volumes also contain Invitations from BW&Co for their exhibits at the following conventions: Indian Christian Endeavour Union, World's Convention, Agra, 1909; London Medical Exhibition, 1909 and Exposition Internationale de Locomotion Aerienne, Paris, 1909.

Also included are advertising material for publications by the Wellcome Tropical Research Laboratories; the BW&Co Lecture Memoranda 'Medicine in Ancient Erin' (produced for the British Medical Association's meeting, 1909); and BW&Co produced booklets such as 'Aids to Success in Photography', 'Directions for Using 'Wellcome' Brand Vaccines, 'First Aid in Emergencies', 'The Mercurial Treatment of Tuberculosis', 'Photographic Facts and Fallacies', 'Hypodermic Medication', 'Travel, Sports, Pastimes and Tropical Exhibition. Exhibit of Burroughs Wellcome & Co' and 'From Ergot to Ernutin'.

The volume has been conserved, items have been removed from the original Guardbook and remounted in sleeves and ringbinders. This enables researchers to easily read items (front and reverse) without damage to the original. The original order has been retained.
