Photograph of an oil painting by J.A. Duplessis, of Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), American polymath and founding father of the United States of America, standing with right hand resting on table. The painting was acquired at auction from Robinson & Fisher on 25th July 1923, Lot 53, and accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum on 8th January 1930 (CC 5122).
