About this work

Description

Minutes and related papers. The first formal Meeting of the Panel, of which Paton was a member, was held at MRC Offices, 29 September, 1950. This was preceded by an Informal Meeting of the Panel, which Paton did not attend, on 21 July, 1950. Paton provided the draft outline (1950) of a "Prototype experiment on burst lung in human cadavers." The file contains autopsy reports on two victims from the loss of H M Submarine Truculent, which sank on 12 January, 1950, and a table giving details of 31 bodies recovered in the Thames Estuary and along the Kent coast, indicating name, date of recovery, position and condition of body when found, and name of pathologist and findings. Also included in the file are extracts from autopsy reports, supplied by the US Navy, on two other victims of burst lung (both 1952).
