Purchased from various sources in 1909, 1931, 1933 and 1935.

The author was an eminent physician and chemist. He obtained his M.D. at Montpellier in 1742, took up the study of chemistry, and in 1757 was appointed professor of materia medica and chemistry at his old university, a post which he held until his death in 1775.
