About this work
'Report of Admiral Nasmith's Committee of Methods of Saving Life in Sunken Submarines' (September, 1939). The terms of reference of the committee were: "To consider whether any change is necessary in the policy of not attempting to raise a submarine with the crew on board in order to save life; whether reliance should continue to be placed on the Davis Submerged Escape Apparatus; or whether some alternative system of recovering the crew from a sunken submarine should be adopted" (p. 2).
