About this work

Description

Until 1932, the Retreat magazine, Harbour Lights, appeared every two months; from 1933 it appeared four times per year. The first two items are complete bound copies of Harbour Lights from January 1923 (Vol. 1 No. 1) up to January 1928 (Vol VI. No 1). There are also loose copies (with some gaps) covering this time period, which have (unlike the bound set) their original covers. Missing issues from the collection of loose copies are: January 1923, (Vol. I, No. 1), March 1924 (Vol. II, No. 2), September 1924 (Vol. II, No. 5), November 1924 (Vol. II, No. 6), 'Christmas Number' 1926 (Volume V, No. 1), March 1927 (Vol. V, No. 2), May 1927 (Vol. V, No. 3), July 1927 (Vol. V, No. 4), September 1927 (Vol. V, No. 5), November 1927 (Vol. V, No. 6), 'Christmas Number' 1927 (Vol. VI, No. 1). All of these issues, however, appear in the volumes, RET 1/7/1/1-2. Completely missing from both the set of volumes and the set of loose copies are the following issues: March 1928 (Vol. VI, No. 2), 'Christmas Number' 1928 (Vol. VII, No. 1), March 1932 (Vol. X, No. 2), September 1932 (Vol. X, No. 5), November 1932 (Vol. X, No. 6), July 1937 (Vol. XV, No. 3) and July 1938 (Vol. XVI, No. 3).
