About this work

Description

An experiment in the use of chloroform capsules for pain relief in labour was conducted under Louis Carnac Rivett at Queen Charlotte's hospital in April 1932. This was financed by the NBTF. A more wide-ranging survey was made in conjunction with local health authorities in the summer of 1932. Dr Llewellyn Jones acted as advisory anaesthetist. Reports were sent in by about half the participating hospitals and doctors.
