Analgesia

As well as being involved with Mrs Stanley Baldwin's Anaesthetics Appeal Fund (used to pay for the appointment of anaesthetists in hospitals) the NBTF funded research into suitable anaesthetics for use in home confinements by midwives. The NBTF organised the distribution of gas and air machines to hospitals and district nursing associations and campaigned for improved provision for maternity services.
