Description

Registers contain date of death, date of last admission, duration of disease, patient name, sex, class (i.e. private or pauper and from 5 July 1948 Section 3/4/5), number in register, cause of death, age at death and observations. From 1884, whether a post mortem has been carried out or not is also recorded. These volumes relate to certified patients.

Sections 3, 4 and 5 refer to Sections of the National Health Service, with Section 3 being patients receiving free treatment and Sections 4 and 5 being fee paying patients at various rates.
