About this work

Description

Experimental notebook of mixed content. Some data from 1936, but mainly 1943-1946.

Experiments on micro respiration covers August 1936 at Cambridge.

(For further material relating to Heatley's microrespirometer see B/2/10). The spine of the volume is labelled 'Emb Resp' [embryo respiration].

From Autumn 1936 Heatley was based at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, Oxford.

From the back of the notebook are some notes dated Sep-Oct 1943, 'Preliminary experiments on Gynocardia Odorata'.

From p.17 the notebook contains notes on 'Experiments on Penicillin. Assay, Estimation, etc.' It covers 24 May 1944 to 8th October 1946 and Heatley has annotated it stating that it contains information following on from 'Oxford Vol VII' (PP/NHE/A/2/1/5) May 1944 onwards. At the end of the penicillin notes, p.216, he states that 'work continued in Oxford Vol XV' (PP/NHE/A/2/1/12).
