About this work

Description

A painting by psychiatric patient 12 depicting a red flower. The following information was taken from notes written by Wellcome staff during conversations with Rita Simon between 1995 and 1997: the patient began to steal flowers for the therapist, and painted flowers, and became very loving. She had no one else to give her attention to. The brown background of the artwork is hate clashing with the red flower.

The title has been taken from notes made during a conversation between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff at the time of deposit.
