Biographical note
Project MK-ULTRA was the code name given to a programme of experiments, some of which were illegal, run by the American CIA (Central Intelligence Agency). The experiments aimed to identify and develop drugs and techniques that could manipulate people's mental state and brain functions. Unbeknownst to Abrams, the Human Ecology Fund (from whom he received funding for his parapsychology research) was itself secretly funded by Project MK-ULTRA.
