About this work

Description

Correspondence, statistics and other papers relating to the life expectancy of Trust beneficiaries, starting with Smithells' memorandum "Mortality amongst people damaged by thalidomide" (1999). Mainly in reverse chronological order.

Includes results of a medical questionnaire sent out to beneficiaries in 1999, with the objective to survey their present state of health and social circumstances, to learn of changes in their independence and mobility over the previous ten years, and to invite their predictions of changes over the decade to come.

Also includes Trust memoranda on the effects of still more beneficiaries being accepted (1992) and on the question of settlements for the benefits of the dependants of beneficiaries (1991). Further includes an opinion by the international law firm Slaughter and May on the terms of the Trust about the application of its income.
