Biographical note

The school of physiotherapy was established in 1919 in the Manchester Royal Infirmary. With the introduction of the Health Service in 1948, the five Manchester Teaching Hospitals became the United Manchester Hospitals, and the School at the Manchester Royal Infirmary became the School of Physiotherapy of the Group.
