The Guard Book is indexed at the front of the volume. Pages 171 onwards are blank. For details of abbreviations / terms please see series description for Circulars.

The volume has been conserved, items have been removed from the original guard book and remounted in sleeves and ringbinders. This enables researchers to read items without damage to the original. The original order has been retained. The original page number has been retained and is indicated at the top right hand corner. Due to the size of the original guard book it has been split into 3 albums. Album 1 = Index and pp.1-65 Album 2 = pp.66-122 Album C = pp.123-170

Should readers wish to consult items which are folded (such as folded leaflets or pamphlets) they must approach the Poynter Room Supervisor first.

Inside the front cover of this volume, on the frontispage, is a sticker (partially removed) indicating that the volume was used as an exhibit in court, "In the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, Mr Justice Farwell. In the matter of an application by the Capsuloid Company Limited for the registration of a trade-mark no. 276531 'Tablones, they remove the cause.'"Exhibit A E W 2.
