About this work

Description

His experiences in the 1914-1918 war and his work on shell-shock inspired CMW's interest in the quality of courage in war. Through the 1930s he gave a series of lectures on morale to army colleges [see E.3, L.9]. In the course of the 1939-1945 war he revised and refined these ideas, which were published in February 1945, as The Anatomy of Courage.
