Description

Three letters from H[enry] H Dale, and a single letter from P E F Perrédès, as follows:
10 May, 1907, Dale to Perrédès, Wellcome Physiological Research Laboratories, Brockwell Hall, Herne Hill, London, requesting identification of seed specimen received from Professor Dunstan: "They are said to form one constituent in the preparation of a West African arrow-poison, and I take them to be a species of Strophanthus" [1 sheet, ts];
6 June, 1907, Wellcome Physiological Research Laboratories, Dale to Perrédès, thanking him for examining the seeds: "I can only tell you as yet that they seem to be rather more potent physiologically than Strophanthus Kombe" [1 sheet, ts];
28 June, 1907, Wellcome Physiological Research Laboratories, Dale to Perrédès, informing him that Professor Dunstan is also now working on the putative Strophanthus seeds, and apologises for "the slight misunderstanding" [1 sheet, ts];
6 July, 1907, Dartford, Perrédès to Dale, returning the seed pods, "rather relieved that you will be able to take this work off my hands" which "are very full" [1 sheet, pencil, rough draft].
