What you’ll do

Drop in to look through a unique collection of graphic novels and comics on themes including graphic medicine, LGBTQI+ stories, and health and human experience.    

Graphic Novel Reading Room’ is a regular event that pops up in different spaces to share its collection of graphic novels and comics. You’re invited to read what you find in other people’s company, in a relaxed space.    

Gabi Putnoki, founder of Graphic Novel Reading Room, will facilitate the session. Gabi will be available to welcome you, guide you through the collection and offer recommendations.    

You can arrive any time between 14:00 and 18:30 and stay for as long as you like. Graphic novels and comics will be provided for you to read in the space. Everybody will be reading something different. There’s no organised discussion but you’re welcome to chat with other participants.   

The material on display will include nudity and discussion of racism, homophobia, sexual violence and suicide.

This event is aimed at people aged 14 and over. Those aged 14–17 should be accompanied by an adult.

Location

We’ll be in the Reading Room on level 2. You can walk up the spiral staircase to the Reading Room door, or take the lift up and then head left from the Library Desk.

Her aim is to support and collaborate with comic artists, publishers, festivals and the comics community every step of the way.

Graphic Novel Reading Room

Graphic Novel Reading Room is a regular event where people can read graphic novels in other people’s company in a relaxed space such as a café, a community centre or a library. A wide selection of graphic novels are provided to choose from, mainly long-form fiction and non-fiction. The sessions can be anything from a couple of hours to a whole day, and people can come and go freely.
