Join curator Joanne Prince for a talk about images of and by Native Americans. You’ll hear about how Native American photographers, from Horace Poolaw in the 1920s to contemporary fine art photographers today, continually break free from romanticised and colonial stereotyping to define their own images, narratives and identities.

We’ll be in the Viewing Room. It’s next to the Library entrance on level 2, which you can reach by taking the lift or the stairs.

About your speaker

Joanne Prince

Joanne Prince is the Director of Rainmaker Gallery, Bristol. Since launching Rainmaker in 1991, Jo has made it her life’s work to ensure that contemporary Native American art is continuously exhibited in England. She has curated numerous solo and group exhibitions enhanced by her immersion in and understanding of Native communities and by collaborations with other specialist curators and academics.
