What you’ll do

Come and hear Dr Elsa Richardson discuss her research into Eustace Hamilton Miles, an Edwardian health guru. Using Wellcome books and pamphlets, she will uncover the life of this forgotten pioneer of dietary reform and physical culture. Following her paper there will be an opportunity for you to discuss her ideas.

Elsa Richardson

Elsa Richardson is a Chancellor’s Fellow in the History of Health and Wellbeing at the University of Strathclyde. Her research examines histories of nutrition, vegetarianism, other alternative dietary cultures, mental stress and gastric disorders in late-19th and early-20th-century Britain.
