What you’ll do

Come along to hear stories of transformation inspired by the book Shapeshifters: On Medicine & Human Change by Gavin Francis. Hear experts’ scientific, personal and cultural perspectives on the different ways our bodies change, then join the conversation.

About your speakers

Gavin Francis is a GP and author of Shapeshifters: On Medicine & Human Change (published by Wellcome Collection).

James Young is a double amputee who works in bionics and film-making.

Caroline Vout is a cultural and art historian in the Faculty of Classics at the University of Cambridge.

Your facilitator will be Angela Saini, science journalist, author & broadcaster.

Where we’ll be

Follow the signs downstairs or take the lift to the Henry Wellcome Auditorium on level –1. There are 150 seats.

We’ll be in the Henry Wellcome Auditorium. To get there, take the stairs or the lift down to level −1. The auditorium is fitted with a hearing loop.
